when the character in the book/fanfiction you are reading does something really embarrassing and you suffer secondhand embarrassment and you just have to stare at the ceiling and whisper you are an idiot why would you do that oh my god

Personally, I wouldn’t see a problem with it if you did replace it with white. There’s no problem with being proud of your race, whatever it is. It’s only a problem when you put other races down and put your race above them. He’s not saying “all other races suck,” he’s just saying “I like my race.”

Excuse the fuck out of me.
Some of us live in places where the only place you can buy comics is Barnes and Noble.
Some of us don’t like comics because of the decades of continuity, complicated multiple universes, and the fact that, while there is a huge amount of talent in the industry, there are countless comics that have been tainted by poor writing and artwork.
Some of us prefer films because it is more relevant to our interests.
Some of us don’t have the income or time to spare to enjoy comics.
You don’t need to have read the comics to appreciate or be a fan of a character.
This attitude of superiority from people who are “real fans” because they read the comics makes me rage so hard.
Maybe people would be more eager to read comics if comic fans were more inclusive.

Yeah, I know, it’s not like you can find them online or anything!

LET ME EMPHASIZE THAT FOR YOU
Yeah, I know, it’s not like you can find them online or anything!
Yeah, I know, it’s not like you can find them online or anything!
Yeah, I know, it’s not like you can find them online or anything!
Yeah, I know, it’s not like you can find them online or anything!

reasons why this is dumb
idk what comic fans YOU’RE talking to but we really aren’t all that inclusive
don’t insult comics
don’t say you ‘don’t have time’ to read a FUCKING BOOK because honestly that’s really sad
if you don’t have time to read a book then you don’t have time to go on tumblr
barnes & noble wtf go on amazon get that shit used
wOW COMICS ARE SO **COMPLICATED** no they actually aren’t just pick a story arc and read
you’ve seen one movie? wow great good for you but there is not that much you can learn about Loki from one or two movies
the comics are better
comics >movies
the end

Wow, this post was good and now it’s shit.
If you like the movies, us comic fans would like it if you tried to read the comics as well. Don’t know where to start? Ask us? I’d like more people to chit chat comics with.
The multiple universes can be hard to follow but there are actually reading guides around to help you along. like for Ultimate Reed Richards who is…something unspeakable now.
There’s a lot of comic elitism but that’s because comic fans have loved the original medium for so long it’s kind of painful to watch people blindly become fans without wanting to explore the characters we’ve all come to love a bit more.  Please understand, it’s not like we don’t want you to be a fan, we just want you to be an informed/educated fan. <3

I started watching some Thor cartoons on netflix today including Thor and Loki: Blood Brothers. Starting to warm up to the idea of looking for the comics but I don’t have a fortune so yeah…

Wow, the elitism here is astounding.
“It’s not like you can find them on the internet or anything”
Um … you realize that it is also illegal. Some people have problems with piracy, and don’t want to read it if they can’t contribute and pay. If you don’t have that moral problem, good for you but don’t force your morals on someone else.
Besides, some people just don’t like comic books. That’s okay. Some people like comic books. That’s okay.
No one is any better than anyone else just because they’ve seen a certain adaptation.
It’s not up to anyone to decide who is or is not a “real fan.” Besides, Loki is not a creation of Marvel. He is a mythological character that existed for centuries and went through countless changes. Therefore, I could very well say that you can’t be a “true fan” if you’ve never read the Norse myths.
So basically, shut up and let people like what they’re going to like.
